I think there isn't really a solution right now, except from "don't go too fast". 10x would be good if you're in a rush with no patience, and then slowing down if you want to control more carefully what your dupes are doing. There is a mod that changes these speeds to x1, x3 and x10 or so, but you can enable debug mode and click Alt + Z to get debug speed, which is also x10.
