Is college physics hard reddit. You have to think in a different way: emphasize understanding, not memorization; solve problems, not remember vocabulary. I’m an EE major here in Watson and took physics 2 through Bing and hated it. EM and Quantum are beasts, but not too bad if you have a really solid calculus foundation. Most of them are higher-level math, physics, and cs (my majors), but I've got a lot of psychology, chemistry, biology, engineering, and a couple of other random books (mostly from friends or I bought them). In terms of courses, by graduation, I’ll have taken general physics 1 and 2, modern physics, thermal physics / statistical mechanics, quantum, em 1, optics/waves, em 2, classical mechanics and particle physics. This is super rewarding and something that can be hard to appreciate at times in the heat of classes, but is really neat in retrospect. Chemistry (I went as far as organic II and biochem) is largely pattern recognition. Physics really tests your mathematical understanding of abstract physical concepts. Its just very hard to teach physics because youd require theoretical lessons to be guided by labs. In my experience introductory physics courses have a lot of work (quiz, tests, lots of problem sets, labs) but advanced physics classes have less assigned work.
